In the Spring 2019 term, I had an amazing opportunity to take Ambient Light Photography (Photo 80), at CCSF. This was taught by an instructor who liked to go by an abbreviation of his last name -- Nish. When I first started his course, I didn't think I was going to like it, but as the semester went on, I really looked forward to coming to class each week. Each week had assignments and/or challenges covering varying facets of light. Some of mine were serious and some where rather whimsical as you can see.
I've taken a few photography classes over the years (okay, decades) but there have been only two instructors that have left a positive impact on me: Jeff Weston's Photo 51 class revived my passion in photography, and this class which has made me think differently in how I capture my images.
Unfortunately for me and the rest of the Photography students at CCSF. Nish retired. I wish I had the opportunity to take more than one class with him, but what I've learned will stay with me a lifetime.
